New York State Department of Health (DOH) Announces Improvements to Provider Enrollment and Revalidation Process

This week, the New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH) announced updates to the state Medicaid program’s oversight and modernization of the provider enrollment and revalidation process. The roll out of the updated provider revalidation plan will be implemented in phases and a critical part of supporting the integrity and accuracy of the NYS Medicaid program. The program is the result of a new CMS directive that requires all states to increase the frequency of revalidation for every enrolled Medicaid provider from the current five-year cycle to revalidation within two years.
All providers serving NYS Medicaid beneficiaries must now enroll and revalidate through the new NYS Medicaid Provider Services Portal (PSP). To help physicians and other providers better understand and navigate this transition, DOH released a press release detailing the phased revalidation schedule, which runs through June 2028.
