MSSNY congratulates Antigone Argyriou, MD, FAAPMR, a member since 2015, on receiving the PM&R Awareness and Value Award for her outstanding work advancing the visibility, influence, and value of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Argyriou is a double board-certified physiatrist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, practicing at Spine Medicine and Surgery of Long Island. Her clinical work reflects the core mission of PM&R: helping patients restore function, reduce disability, and improve quality of life through comprehensive, evidence-based, and minimally invasive care.

Her leadership extends well beyond clinical practice. Dr. Argyriou is a Past President of the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where she also served as Treasurer and Program Director, and she remains active nationally through AAPM&R’s Reimbursement and Policy Review Committee. In that role, she has contributed to coding resources and educational initiatives that support physiatrists across the country.

Committed to ensuring PM&R has a strong voice in healthcare policy, Dr. Argyriou serves as the Alternate CPT Advisor representing AAPM&R to the American Medical Association CPT Editorial Panel. She also contributes to national reimbursement, advocacy, education, and mentorship efforts through the Coding and Reimbursement Committee of the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society.

At the state and county level, Dr. Argyriou serves as a voting delegate to the MSSNY House of Delegates through the Suffolk County Medical Society, where she also serves as a Member-at-Large. Her service reflects the connection between specialty leadership, county medical society engagement, and statewide physician advocacy.

Dr. Argyriou is also deeply committed to mentoring residents, medical students, pre-medical students, and early-career physiatrists. Through her work locally, statewide, and nationally, she continues to help ensure that PM&R has a meaningful voice at the table.

MSSNY is proud to recognize members like Dr. Argyriou whose leadership strengthens organized medicine, advances specialty advocacy, and improves care for patients across New York.
