MSSNY Podcast on Dengue Virus
Dengue virus infection is the world’s most common mosquito-borne virus. Owing to global warming, the number of dengue cases has doubled and the regions where the aedes albopictus mosquito (responsible for spreading dengue virus) lives have expanded.
In 2023 there were 4.6 million reported cases of dengue globally, and as of June 24, 2024, there have already been 9.7 million cases reported, with much of the world’s highest transmission months yet to come. The New York State Department of Health issued a health advisory on dengue virus on June 28th, following a health advisory issued by the CDC.
The Medical Society of the State of New York has produced a new podcast with Dr. Bill Valenti discussing the pertinent facts about identifying, preventing, and treating dengue virus. Listen to Dr. Valenti share his guidance and knowledge HERE.
