Advocacy in Action: Physicians Connecting with State Leaders
Dr. Daniel Young, past president of the Broome County Medical Society and former member of MSSNY’s Board of Trustees, met with key state leaders to strengthen communication between physicians and policymakers. Pictured with Dr. Young are Senator Lea Webb—Chair of the Senate Women’s Issues Committee and member of the Senate Health, Higher Education, and Mental Health Committees—and New York State Attorney General Letitia James. Dr. Young continues to serve as a Broome County Medical Society board member and delegate to the MSSNY House of Delegates, helping ensure physicians’ perspectives remain represented at the state level.
Physician leadership from Suffolk County connected with state policymakers to highlight the importance of physician insight in legislative decision-making. Pictured are Dr. Camile Gooden, Treasurer of the Suffolk County Medical Society and Administrator at NYU/Suffolk Hospital, and Dr. Maria Basile, former Vice-Speaker of the MSSNY House of Delegates, past President of the Suffolk County Medical Society, and Chair of Ethics at Stony Brook Medical School, alongside Senator Monica Martinez. These interactions reinforce the role of organized medicine in shaping policies that affect physician practices and patient care across New York.
