
MSSNY’s Cohen Urges Congress to Act on Medicare Reimbursement
As the year-end deadline approaches, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission recently concluded discussions on physician reimbursement for 2026 without addressing the impending 2.8% cut starting Jan. 1. This cut, which has widespread bipartisan opposition, threatens physician practices and access to care, as highlighted by Medical Society of the State of New York President Dr. Jerome Cohen. Cohen and the American Medical Association are calling on Congress to reverse the cut and align payment updates with inflation, emphasizing that the current reimbursement model is unsustainable. “Our message is simple — Congress cannot go home for Christmas without fully preventing this cut,” Cohen said.
