Key Health Care Provisions Removed from Funding Bill
The stopgap funding bill passed by Congress failed to avert the scheduled 2.83% cut to Medicare physician reimbursement, which is now set to take effect on January 1, 2025. Health care associations, including the Medical Society of the State of New York and others expressed disappointment, highlighting that the cut — amounting to a 6.4% decrease when adjusted for inflation — will negatively impact physicians and patient access to care. They urged Congress to address this issue promptly to prevent further destabilization of the Medicare reimbursement system.
