MSSNY and Our County Societies are Stronger When We Work Together
Colleagues:
Last week, Nassau County Medical Society (NCMS) hosted its Spring Membership Meeting. As a longtime member of NCMS, I was thrilled to join members throughout Nassau County for an evening of drinks, dinner, and reports from NCMS President Dr. David Podwall and Nassau Academy of Medicine President Dr. Daniel Nicoll.
As MSSNY President, I presented an update to our NCMS membership on MSSNY’s continued efforts to bring about reform in policy and legislation to better the field of medicine for physicians and their patients. When we come together, it is our duty to inform our members of the actions that they can take to evolve the profession for those currently practicing and future doctors who have yet to begin their practice.
The NCMS event last week was a good example of what happens when MSSNY and the county societies work together. It’s important for MSSNY and our counties to strengthen their relationships to better support our fellow physicians throughout the state. And it’s imperative that physician members throughout the counties work alongside MSSNY to grow the organization and work toward a future in which we are a united front that faces all underlying and prevalent issues together. As we have seen in the past when matters arise that affect physicians and their patients, the voice of the masses always booms louder and holds more gravity than the voice of the few.
To accomplish greatness and better the medical field for physicians who are currently practicing and the physicians yet to come, it is crucial that no physician stands alone and that we move as one body that advocates for and delivers what is right and just in the field of medicine.
Paul A. Pipia, MD
MSSNY President
