Join MSSNY for Lobby Day on March 12
Colleagues:
I hope you’re planning to join us for MSSNY’s Physician Advocacy Day on March 12. I simply cannot stress strongly enough the importance of showing up to represent our profession. There are a number of problematic proposals for physicians and our patients in this year’s Executive Budget, including repealing authorization for MSSNY’s Committee for Physicians Health (CPH) program; requiring physicians to pay 50% of the Excess Medical Malpractice coverage cost; and permitting Physician Assistants (PAs) to practice without any physician supervision or collaboration after 8,000 clinical hours—to name just a few.
Let’s stand together to make our voices heard loud and clear in support of our patients and our profession.
We will hear from a wide variety of legislative leaders, including Commissioner of Health James McDonald, MD; Senate Minority Leader Robert Ortt; Senator Neil Breslin, Chair, Senate Insurance Committee; Assemblymember David Weprin, Chair, Assembly Insurance Committee; Assemblymember Amy Paulin, Chair, Assembly Health Committee, Senator Gustavo Rivera (Invited) Chair, Senate Health Committee and Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay. At the program’s conclusion, physicians will join with their colleagues in meetings organized by their county medical societies to encourage their senators and assembly members to support legislation crucial to their practice and oppose bills that place restrictions and add unreasonable burdens.
Please register for Physician Advocacy Day March 12, 2024.

Final Weeks of Session Brings Numerous Concerning Scope Expansion Bills The recently enacted State Budget importantly rejected numerous proposals that would have threatened patient safety by removing the important oversight and/or collaboration that physicians provide in the delivery of patient care.
