Fighting for Physicians: Members of County and State Medical Societies Benefit from a Collective Voice in Albany
The Medical Society of the State of New York serves as a “collective voice for physicians,” advocating for issues important to members and providing an effective platform for legislative change, says President Dr. Jerome Cohen. In addition to fostering leadership development, the society helps members address stress and burnout; offers free, 24/7 access to continuing medical education courses; and assists physicians in optimizing revenue, among other benefits. “We’re there to advocate for physicians and patients, and it is also our job to provide an environment which welcomes more physicians who want to practice in New York,” notes MSSNY Executive Vice President Dr. Thomas Lee.
