PAL Network
Physician Advocacy Liaison Network
What the PAL Network Program Does?
In the light of the urgent need for increased local physician activism, MSSNY and MSSNYPAC relaunched our Political Action Liaison Network Program as a powerful grassroots infrastructure tool to increase physicians’ contacts with their local legislators. The main goal is to increase the political visibility and power of the medicine profession as it strives to ensure access to high quality healthcare for the citizens of New York. Our main challenge is to coordinate this grassroots effort with MSSNYPAC under the umbrella of MSSNY in concert with the County Medical Societies. Joining PAL Network Program is your way of becoming a key part of this important mission.
What Are PAL Responsibilities?
- Attend policy meetings at legislative district office scheduled at the request of the County Medical Society or MSSNY.
- Attend programs to stay updated on legislative issues and grassroots activities.
- Participate in our grassroots program by attending local political events, sponsored by the campaigns for State Assemblypersons and Senators, as well as events that may be sponsored in part by MSSNYPAC.
- Enlist other members to support our action plans and mobilize them to action by utilizing a peer-to-peer promotion.
- Join and promote MSSNYPAC.
What Needs to Be Done First?
The first step is to update the data of our PALs Network. We need to indicate who is still an active PAL and who would like to become one. Please fill out the sign-up form that is enclosed below.
We must mobilize physicians to better assure the enactment of favorable legislation and the defeat of proposals that will adversely impact the care that you provide to your patients. We must make certain that our elected officials remain committed to championing the issues that matter most to MSSNY members and their patients.
Keep in mind, there has never been a greater need for physicians to become active. With so many changes, on both Federal and State levels, occurring in our health care system, and opposition interests seeking to marginalize the physician’s role as leader of the health care team, we must make up for it with an overwhelming presence via grassroots activity that will command the attention of elected officials throughout the state and nationwide.
You can make a difference. Protect the profession and your patients. Join PAL Network today.
