The NYS Medical Aid in Dying law, Article 28-F of the Public Health Law, allows terminally ill adults to obtain a prescription for medication which they can choose to self-administer to end their life. The law will take effect on August 5, 2026. The Department of Health will be hosting a series of informational webinars in advance of this effective date for practitioners and facilities who may be involved in the exercise of medical aid in dying.
