OBBA a Win for DPC, but it Harms the Health Care Safety Net

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act allows direct primary care patients to use health savings accounts for membership fees, but it also “dismantles the rest of the health care safety net,” with projections showing an estimated 12 million Americans will lose health insurance coverage, straining the health care system, writes Medical Society of the State of New York member Dr. Hemant Kalia. “Unless we address the profound, indirect harms of this legislation, the long-awaited victory for Direct Primary Care may prove to be a hollow one indeed,” Kalia writes.
