MSSNY is continuing to work closely with the American Medical Association (AMA) and other physician advocacy groups to urge Congress to stop the 2.8% Medicare physician payment cut and provide for needed increases. As you know, Congress reached an agreement to stop most of the cut, but the deal was alarmingly scrapped in the 11th hour due to political gamesmanship in which our nation’s physicians and their patients became pawns.

Now with this devastating cut fully in effect, Congress must act immediately to reinstate these payments and prevent future cuts. MSSNY has warned the New York Congressional delegation that, unless Congress takes action, seniors could face even worse patient access-to-care issues across New York State than they already face. NY Physicians Outraged at Congress’s Inaction on Medicare – MEDICAL SOCIETY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK ORGANIZED 1807.

MSSNY is continuing to urge the New York Congressional Delegation to support rolling back this cut, and to provide for needed increases to help preserve patient access to care. We’re also urging the County Medical Societies to schedule meetings with their members of Congress in the district to ask for their support for this important issue. And we need your help. Please go to our Grassroots Action Center (GAC) and send a letter to your member of Congress TODAY and urge them to ACT IMMEDIATELY to stop this cut and work towards a long-term solution to this perennial problem.

Moreover, please join New York physician leaders who will be in our nation’s Capitol meeting with our New York delegation members from February 10-12 as part of the AMA’s National Advocacy Conference AMA Conference on National Advocacy | AMA

MSSNY will continue to track this critical issue and provide updates as they are available.
