Cohen: Bill Would Worsen Issues in Health Care System
This is the third time lawmakers have tried to expand New York’s wrongful death statute. State Sen. Brad Hoylman-Sigal said in a statement that changes to the measure address concerns Gov. Kathy Hochul expressed in previous vetoes; however, MSSNY and the Healthcare Association of New York State note that the amendments haven’t addressed serious concerns. “This bill would do nothing to address the problems facing New York’s health care system and, instead, make these problems far worse by adding substantial new costs at a time when they can least afford to incur them,” Dr. Cohen said.
