As the days get shorter, pumpkin spice everything is everywhere, and the nights get colder, plans need to be made for seasonal (and unseasonal) respiratory viruses. Health experts expect that again this year’s respiratory virus season will present as a “tripledemic”. And beyond the “tripledemic,” other viruses like norovirus (“stomach flu”) and the common cold also typically circulate during this time and contribute to overall illness rates. Protections such as vaccines and treatments for flu, COVID, and RSV continue to be the best protection to keep severe illness and hospitalization rates at a minimum.
