MSSNY Presses Cigna for Transparency on New Downcoding Policy

In a letter to Cigna, Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) President Dr. David Jakubowicz urged the insurer to clarify details of its new claims “downcoding” policy. Cigna recently stated it will target only physicians whose billing patterns show consistently higher Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes than their peers.
