Advisory: Stay Alert for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) Risk

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has issued a health advisory for healthcare providers due to the heightened risk of transmission of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) from mosquitoes. With increased EEE activity detected in both mosquitoes and horses, especially in Onondaga and Oswego counties, healthcare providers are urged to stay vigilant for mosquito-borne infections, particularly in patients presenting with viral encephalitis or meningitis symptoms.
