
NYC Treatment Centers See Rise in Cannabis Addiction
Rehabilitation centers in New York City are seeing an increase in patients addicted to marijuana since the state legalized recreational use, with patients sharing their stories. The Medical Society of the State of New York opposed legalization due to the impact on young people’s brains, among other reasons. Meanwhile, the New York City Health Department reported that almost 25% of the city’s adults consumed cannabis in 2023, second to alcohol, and 15% of high school students used the drug.
