
Direct to Consumer Advertising is Becoming Absurd

A Groupon internet advertisement was recently forwarded to me. The ad simultaneously offers discounts on a Medical Marijuana Approval Certificate, and a Weight Management Program utilizing Semaglutide. This is so absurd that you must see this ad to believe it.
In 2024, without seeing your doctor, you can get approval for Marijuana, gain weight from its use, and then obtain an Rx medication to take that weight off again, all from the same ad that offers a discount. Not to mention, that Rx medication should be restricted to obese diabetic patients.
In Europe, direct-to-consumer advertising of drugs is prohibited. The Europeans think that we are crazy in the US for allowing this. On this issue, I do think they are right.
