Reminder: Physicians Must Complete Updated Child Abuse Reporting Course by April 1, 2025
As a reminder to New York physicians, the New York State-mandated coursework on the Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect now includes critical updates that must be completed by April 1, 2025.
New training requirements have been added to address:
- Protocols for reducing implicit bias in clinical decision-making
- Strategies to identify adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- Guidelines for recognizing abuse or maltreatment in virtual interactions
All physicians who are required to complete this training must do so through an SED-approved provider. MSSNY strongly recommends completing the approved curriculum in advance of the deadline to ensure compliance. The following training is free (users must register for a free account): www.nysmandatedreporter.org
