Empower. Advocate. Lead: Register for MSSNY’s Fall 2025 Women Physicians Leadership Academy
MSSNY invites physicians to celebrate and elevate women’s voices in medicine through the Fall 2025 Women Physicians Leadership Academy, themed “Dollars and Sense.” This three-part educational series—held virtually on November 2, November 23, and December 7, 2025, at 9:30 AM—is designed to equip women physicians with the advocacy, communication, and leadership tools needed to thrive in today’s evolving healthcare landscape.
Each session builds on a central theme of empowerment and professional growth:
- Advocacy & Changemaking – Worth the Effort (Nov 2)
- Effective Communications – Communicating Your Worth (Nov 23)
- Leadership – Dollars and Sense of Leadership (Dec 7)
Together, these sessions provide 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and invaluable skills to elevate your influence in medicine.
The Academy will be led by Dr. Lynn M. O’Connor, Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery of New York and Section Chief at Mercy Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital. Dr. O’Connor made history as the first Black female Colorectal Police Surgeon for the NYPD, a milestone that received national and international attention, including features on Good Morning America and NBC News.
A distinguished surgery and preventive health leader, Dr. O’Connor is recognized for her advocacy on issues such as rising obesity rates, early colon cancer detection, and access to preventive care. She is a passionate mentor who champions diversity, resilience, and excellence in leadership.
Through engaging discussions and practical takeaways, the “Dollars and Sense” series will inspire participants to advocate effectively, negotiate confidently, and lead with purpose, skills essential for women shaping the future of medicine.
