MSSNY Participates in Nassau County Medical Society’s Annual Fall Legislative Day
This week MSSNY staff joined physician leaders of the Nassau County Medical Society in its Fall virtual Legislative advocacy day meetings with members of the Nassau County Senate and Assembly delegation, as well as the Governor’s office.
Among the issues discussed with lawmakers were the physician community’s support for legislation to reduce health insurer prior authorization hassles, as well as expressing serious concerns with the enormous costs of the “Grieving Families Act” that passed the legislature at the end of the 2024 legislative session (and awaiting action by the Governor), inappropriate scope-of-practice expansion, and implementation of the new patient financial consent requirements.
The event is held annually and is a great opportunity for physicians to share their perspectives on key issues in the lead up to the regular legislative session that starts each January. MSSNY advocacy staff is available to participate or assist in preparation for other county medical societies wishing to organize similar advocacy events.
