MSSNY President: Lobbying Can Take a Variety of Forms

More physicians are advocating for their profession on issues including reimbursement, prior authorization, cybersafety and physician shortages. Medical Society of the State of New York President Dr. Jerome Cohen is among those advocates, saying “It’s one thing to fight directly with insurance companies; it’s another for doctors to get together as a group and go to Albany and say the law should be changed.” He adds that “during our lobby day in March, doctors come to Albany to visit legislators in their offices. Between that and letter writing, there are plenty of ways of engaging with politicians who are making policies that affect us.”
