MSSNY Opposes the Criminalization of Providing Gender-Affirming Care for Youth
and Supports the Right of Physicians to Provide Medically Necessary Care
Statement Attributable to:
David Jakubowicz, MD
MSSNY President
“The US Supreme Court’s decision is a blow to countless patients across the country who may now be unable to access necessary medical care in their states, as well as their physicians who may face criminal prosecution for taking care of their patients. The Medical Society of the State of New York opposes the criminalization of providing gender-affirming care for youth, and supports the right of physicians to provide the medically necessary care.
“MSSNY thanks Governor Hochul and NY State legislature for their strong leadership on the protection of gender-affirming care and physicians who provide care to those out of state patients who seek it.”
