MSSNY Service Bureau

The Medical Society of the State of New York has created a Service Bureau in response to physicians’ needs to transition from a paper-based office to using an electronic medical record. MSSNY is determined to assist those specialty practice physicians reach meaningful use and be given the opportunity to collect the federal incentive money.

The MSSNY Service Bureau will provide two levels of service: Minimum and Maximum. Each level will be based on the current technology in place in the physician’s office and/or practice. Both will culminate in the achievement of meaningful use attestation by the physician(s) – a necessary condition to qualify for incentive payment.

Level 1: Maximizing EHR for Meaningful Use will be provided to physicians and/or practices that have already purchased and implemented an electronic health record system. The focus is to assess that the EHR is being used consistent with the required criteria described in both the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs.

Level 2: EHR – Implementation Plus will be provided to those physicians and/or practices that have not purchased an electronic health record system. Here, the focus will be to assist the physician and/or practice in the selection process of an electronic health record system and once implemented, assess that the EHR is being used consistent with the required criteria described in both the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs.

Those eligible for incentives are determined by the specific incentive program. Eligible professionals will be charged a fee for services and paid in three installments. MSSNY members will receive a discounted fee. Non-members will be charged a slightly higher fee. In either scenario, the fee is priced below fair market value.
