Pain Management
The importance of physicians receiving education in pain medicine and end-of-life care can not be exaggerated, as 47% of those with moderate or severe pain have changed physicians at least once. Pain is one of the most common reasons Americans 18 years and older seek medical attention. Ninety percent (90%) of Americans suffer pain at least once a month; 42% live with pain everyday. This program aims to equip physicians with the information and tools necessary to deal with this major health issue.
Objectives:
At the end of this program, attendees will be able to:
- Recognize and assess patient pain and develop an individual pain management plan;
- Be equipped to evaluate, manage and treat persistent malignant pain;
- Be trained in distinguishing and treating neuropathic pain; and
- Be educated in end-of-life care with particular emphasis on the management of advanced stage cancer-related pain.
