SEMINARS
Racial Disparity in Healthcare
Health Literacy Seminars
Health Literacy is described as “the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions”.
In an attempt to increase clinical awareness of and ability to meet the needs of patients with low literacy, MSSNY’s Task Force to Eliminate Racial and Ethnic Health Care Disparities, under an educational grant from Pfizer, Inc., is presenting a series of dinner seminars during 2006-2008 on Health Literacy.
Physicians who attend these seminars are eligible to receive 1 hour of CME credit. In addition, all physicians who attend these seminars will be given a unique identifying number to enable them to access an on-line Quality Interactions course on Cultural Competency. Physicians who complete this course are eligible for an additional 2 hours of CME credit.
