SMOKING CESSATION 
New York State Smoking Cessation Programs

MSSNY's Medical, Educational and Scientific Foundation, Inc. (MESF) has been administering a program under a grant from the New York State Department of Health to encourage physicians to actively counsel patients on the dangers of smoking. Focused on clinical practice settings, the smoking cessation project is based on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) Smoking Cessation Guidelines. These guidelines and other valuable smoking cessation materials for physicians and their patients are available at http://www.ahrq.gov/path/tobacco.htm.
